Orind Refractories has had a successful span of 10 years in the communist nation China, having been the first Indian company to set up a wholly-owned venture in the country. Orind is proud to have completed a period of a successful decade in the year 2004 in China.
We planned to further our operations in the country and become a global player in the refractory business. Orind Managing Director Rajeshwar Mishra is of the opinion that the company had completed a decade of successful operations in China and was then ready for a large-scale expansion which will enable them to be the largest refractory group in this part of the globe. Orind had already acquired land, adjacent to the existing plant and work on the new facility was to be commenced soon to produce new value-added refractory items.
Orind, a name derived from Orissa Industries Ltd, also had plans to acquire a magnesite mine in the mineral-rich Liaoning province in northeast China as part of the efforts to reduce production costs.
As a partner of Ispat International and the LNM group, the world’s largest steel-maker, we specialize in producing Magnesia-Carbon and Alumina-Magnesia-Carbon Bricks used extensively in steel-making furnaces.
The Orind plant, based in Bayuquan city in Liaoning province, was planned to undergo massive expansion under which a magnetite fusion plant and a resin plant would be set up.
Mishra added that the Orind Group, promoted by the Singapore-based Indian industrialist Ravin Jhunjhunwala, became China’s largest exporter of refractors within two years of operations, a position it wrested from other local and foreign companies.
