Comedy and Bollywood Dance Fest

The Akshaya Patra foundation, a widely known non-profit organization striving to provide mid-day meals to millions of underprivileged children in India is expanding its reach by launching #Feedingdreamers, a new global video campaign in partnership with Google and indi.com.  A “Comedy and Bollywood Dance fest” was hosted by Emily Rosenbaum; the CEO of Akshaya Patra USA’s Foundation, Vandana Tilak; the Los Angeles advisory board member and Rajiv Satyal; the master of ceremonies and Indian American comedian at Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center on Oct. 4th 2015. The show focused on the vision of #FeedingDreamers  and its aim to reach five million ‘dreamers’ by the year 2020. It included exclusive dance performances, comedy by Paul Varghese and Maz Jobrani, motivating and credible speeches and videos about the campaign.

According to Rosenbaun, “The campaign will not only reinforce ‘the dreamer in all of us’ but also support the ‘unrealized dreams’ of destitute children in India.”

Focusing on the plight of the underprivileged children in India, Aprajita Jain; Google’s brand marketing evangelist stroked a parallel between hunger and fasting without choice. “When I fast,” said Jain, “I always think about what I am going to eat next. There are millions of children who also fast, but it is without choice, and these children do not know where their next meal is coming from.”

On Google’s technology to pick up the #FeedingDreamers postings from “anywhere” on the internet and propel them to indi.com, where videos with the highest vote will be entered in a contest, Jain stated that “Aimed at a younger audience, it is a way to create a short message on video using cellphones or tablets which can be uploaded to any social media with the hashtag. We would like you to share your experience with hunger and how you are going to support hungry children.”
