JECRC University, Rajasthan hosts Women Scientist Scheme
Jaipur Engineering College and Research Centre (JECRC) endeavored to conduct an annual meeting of ‘Women Scientists Scheme (WOS-A)’ of the Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India recently. Department of Science and Technology aims to give an even chance to the women scientists and technologists between the age group of 30-50 years, who intend to explore the various aspects, in the genre of science and engineering.
Since these kinds of opportunities are pretty scarce, the program witnessed participation of women beyond the bounds, which were superior to 90 in number. Each participator knuckled down to their best for achieving grants that was more than 5 crore rupees, as it was the proposed amount to be given away to various women scientist under this scheme. Accordingly a space for an additional provision has also been accommodated in the plan for those women academician who have had break-in-career in order to carry on research work in basic or applied sciences; eventually it became the biggest platform for such women to capitalize their worth. More than 80 scholars presented their progress reports from all across the country, who have set their hearts on track of engaging back in their core area and emerge as bench-level scientists.
Believing in the spirit of university which says “Build your World”, Amit Agarwal, Vice Chairman, JECRC reviews this attempt of government as a shining effort to bring women scientists in our nation on same footing with the existing ones which would result in growth and prosperity of the whole economy.
