Prabhupada was definitely an enlightened person and the path he chose to reach there was Bhakti or devotion. There are other paths to enlightenment and people are free to chose a suitable path according to their intellectual capacity and personal circumstances. Indian traditions offer different paths to spirituality, to different people, at different levels. Indian traditions require you to first develop discriminatory knowledge/knowledge of discernment, analyze and understand the world and then they expect you to throw that tool away, in order to awaken your intuitive mind. When you are at a level where you can TRULY understand Prabhupada, you already know that you are not blindly following anything, anymore.
