Sharda University holds screening of 2 of Vinod Kapri’s films at its Department of Mass Communication
Sharda University Noida organized a screening of National Award winning director Vinod Kapri’s films at its Department of Mass Communication, SADMS in the university campus. The department screened two critically acclaimed films- political satire Miss Tanakpur Haazir Ho and National Award Winning Documentary– Can’t Take This Shit Anymore, which raises the issue of lack of toilets and sanitation amenities for women in rural areas of India. The screening took place on January 29th, from 10:30 am – 4:00 pm at SMSR AUDI, Sharda University, Greater Noida. The audience present at the screening had a little surprise in stored as they got a chance to interact with the director Vinod Kapri. Bollywood actress Hrishitaa Bhatt would also be present at the screening.
Official spokesperson for Sharda University said, “ It was great to have Vinod Kapri with us. The response to his films was highly positive. Through cinema, he has raised two very important issues prevalent political system and poor health and sanitation facilities. These social issues could easy connect with the audiences.”Among the audiences was present an elderly woman who seemed to have enjoyed both of Vinod’s films. She commented, “The films were really relevant to the prevailing scenario; especially the one that dealt with the absence of basic sanitation and hygiene facilities for women. It is shocking that even after so many years of independence women in our country have to struggle to live with dignity.”
One of the students of the Department of Mass Communication elated, “Interacting with Mr. Vinod was a great experience. Since he has been a senior journalist, his take on various social issues was very pragmatic. The best part was where he shared with us his journey of becoming a film maker from a journalist. “
