Would Ratul Puri’s optimism really help in Nation’s development?

Ratul Puri told the concerned media authority, “We are expecting to come up with the IPO in the second or third quarter of next Financial Year.”With power generation units in various Indian states along with Europe, UK and US, Hindustan Powerprojects Pvt Ltd (HPPPL) has a vision to have an installed capacity of more than 7,000 megawatts by the end of 2020, via solar, hydro and thermal power projects. In order to keep up with its pace of growth, the power giant is planning to offer IPO in FY17. The Chairman of Hindustan Powerprojects, Ratul Puri told the concerned media authority, “We are expecting to come up with the IPO in the second or third quarter of next Financial Year.”

HPPPL is already working on authorizing 5,000 megawatts generation capacity till the completion of FY17. To execute this plan, the company has to invest more than Rs 32,000 crore. The company already has a solar power generation capacity of 500 megawatts.

Apart from these growth plans, HPPPL is currently developing almost 6,000 megawatts by utilising conventional and non-conventional energy sources, across the Nation, Europe and the USA.

Recently, Ratul Puri commented on India’s chances of outshining during WEF annual meet 2016. He said, “Since the global financial community is looking for good projects, the focus would be on India. I foresee a lot of conclusive talks towards global partnerships especially in modernising agriculture, building clean energy alliances and how to attract global players in the Indian infrastructure space.”

He also added, “With political stability returning to the country, India must carry on with the efforts towards building foreign investor’s confidence. The global developments have placed India in an advantageous position and the Indian government must remain focused and stay true to its vision thereby capturing the opportunities.”

Ratul Puri talks about initiatives that should be taken by the government in order to make India a developed Nation. He also thinks that the focus is on Smart cities and renewable energy at the moment, which are the needs of this hour.

From this extract, one can tell how optimistic Ratul Puri is when it comes to his home turf. The man’s forecast about WEF proved right as well, so hoping for a developed Nation via renewable energy, is not a fantasy at all.
