Deepika Padukone comments on Padmavati Controversy: We have regressed as a nation

Deepika Padukone, who is playing the lead role in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s film  Padmavati has commentd on the Padmavati controversy for the first time. Deepika Padukone said on Tuesday, “Nothing can stop the release of this film,” even as over 50 activists of the Rajput Karni Sena vandalised a cinema hall and a mall in Kota for screening the film’s trailer.

Deepika Padukone added: “It’s appalling, it’s absolutely appalling. What have we gotten ourselves into? And where have we reached as a nation? We have regressed.”

Though people trolled Deepika on Twitter for her statement.

Home Minister of Rajasthan Gulab Chand Kataria told the media, “We can’t stop anyone from protesting against the film. However, we won’t allow anyone to do it unlawfully.”

Deepika Padukone spoke about the Padmavati controversy: “The only people we are answerable to is the Censor Board, and I believe that nothing can stop the release of this film,” the actor said, adding that the film industry’s support symbolises how “this is not about Padmavati… we’re fighting a much bigger battle.”

Director of the movie Padmavati, Mr Sanjay Leela Bhansali is facing trouble since January 2017, where he and his crew were attacked in Jaipur and sets were set on fire even after shifting the shooting to Maharashtra’s Kohlapur area.

Sanjay Bhansali has assured the Rajput communities who are feeling offended by movie that there is no romantic scene between Padmini and Khilji in his recent film. Still, these groups demanded to watch the movie before it released.
