Xiaomi, which is a Chinese phone manufacturer, is planning to launch its two flagship models at the end of May – the Mi 7 and the company’s 8th-anniversary edition. Mi said that the latter device will be the first smartphone to support 3D face recognition similar to that of iPhone X. Both the phones will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processors along with 8 GB RAM.
The place for the launch is Shenzhen, with the speculated date being May 31. Although the company has not specified anything yet, the tickets being sold out for an event in Shenzhen, on the company’s social media page suggest that it is going to happen on the same date. Gizmochina was the first one to spot Xiaomi’s post and claims that the event might witness the launch of Mi 8th edition smartphone.
The product launch event is amongst the biggest by the company. Xiaomi’s global product lead Donovan Sung tweeted earlier saying the company was hosting the event in Shenzhen, and later tweeted saying there will be more than one products.
Xiaomi’s Mi Community and the China’s version of Mi Store have both revealed that there will be an 8th-anniversary edition phone. In both the listings, however, no image has been shared. An ‘8’ made in the form of a rotated infinity loop is only what has been revealed yet.
