An insight into the success story of Bernd Leukert

Bernd Leukert is a member of the Executive Board of SAP SE, a leading German company which deals in business applications. He is in charge of developing and delivering applications covering SAP’s product portfolio. In his successful career spanning across several decades, he has held various prominent positions in application development, technology development, software engineering, and process governance. He has been bestowed with a congenial mix of leadership skills and a good sense of marketing of products.

Luekert is also an active member of other board memberships, which include:

  • Supervisory Board, DFKI (Deutsches Forschungszentrum für Kuenstliche Intelligenz GmbH/German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence), Kaiserslautern, Germany
  • Supervisory Board, Bertelsmann SE & Co KGaA, Guetersloh, Germany
  • Supervisory Board, TomTom NV, Amsterdam, the Netherlands
  • Committee chairman of the Plattform Industrie 4.0 for the German government’s Industrie 4.0 initiative.

Bernd Leukert is also actively involved in the strategic innovation initiatives at SAP. He manages the user experience of SAP products as well. He is credited with a master’s degree in business administration along with engineering and information technology from the University Of Karlsruhe, Germany. He’s an almamater of Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland.

It was in the year 1994 that he began his career in SAP. Starting from a software developer for SAP R/3, he went on to attain commendable success in diverse fields. Later, after 5 years, he assumed the responsibility of the company’s development, transportation, and master data. In 2001, he went on to become the Vice President for installed base development in supply chain management, including innovative technologies with in-memory databases. Bernd Leukert served as the head of the Quality Governance & Production Organization, from the year 2005 to 2010. Eight years later, he became a part of the senior leadership team. Since 2011, he has been handling the development of SAP Business Suite and the SAP Business One application.
