US is not even truthful to the commitment they have made : Iran

Iran will thrive despite US sanctions, claims Javad Zarif, Iran’s foreign minister

In an attempt to ascertain the non-effectiveness of US impositions, Iran’s foreign minister said “the country will not only survive newly reimposed US sanctions, but it will thrive.” The sanctions announced under the trump’s regime, covered key industrial commerce companies such as banking, oil exports and shipping.

The announcement by Donald Trump’s administration, on November 5, stated the re-imposition of the “toughest” sanctions ever against Iran’s banking, and energy sectors with the aim of cutting off its oil sales and crucial exports.

The reason behind the sanctions was to curb Tehran’s “destabilising activities “in the Middle East, as termed by US. In an interview with BBC Persian, the US secretary Mike Pompeo made an obnoxious statement saying that Iranian officials must listen to Washington “if they want their people to eat.

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif has sacked America’s starvation threat, stating that the Iranian regime will survive and even flourish, despite Washington’s impositions. In an online video message, Zarif slammed US for imposing “illegal and draconian” sanctions on Tehran, saying Washington would once again regret its “unwise measures.”

Speaking with Iran’s foreign secretary, Jeremy Hunt, in Tehran on Monday, the noble said: “We are used to pressure and we are used to resisting pressure. Sanctions always hurt and they hurt ordinary people, but sanctions seldom change policy, and that has been the problem with US sanctions all the time. They do not take people back to the negotiating table. In fact, they strengthen the resolve to resist.”

He added “We will certainly survive. We will not only survive – we will thrive. We have tried to minimise the impact on the population but the ordinary people are going to suffer, the economy is going to suffer.”

Zarif also challenged claims by the US secretary of state, Mike Pompeo, that the sanctions had been constructed to exempt humanitarian supplies, such as food and medicine.“The US is not living up to its promises. We believe all sanctions are unlawful, and against UN Security Council resolutions, but the US is not even truthful to the commitment they have made.” Zarif commented.
