Ease of money remittance from UK to India now with the launch of YONO in UK
In an event organised in association with the UK India Business Council (UKIBC), the State Bank of India (SBI) launched its digital banking app YONO. The app was unveiled by SBI Chairman Rajnish Kumar.
YONO was first launched in India in the year 2017 and SBI has now decided to go global. “YONO SBI UK is one of the highlights of SBI’s technological capabilities. I am delighted to launch YONO for our UK customers, after its success in India”, said Mr Kumar.

Available on both App Store and Google Play Store, YONO is an enhanced mobile app which is “simple, intuitive and user-friendly” catering to all the banking needs of the customers. The app offers numerous out of the box features like easy, 24*7 available UK money transfer, payments and remittance to India with attractive exchange rates.
The facility of opening an account online through the app will be made available soon.
Richard Heald, UKIBC Group CEO said, “It is exciting to see how passionate SBI is in its determination to deliver innovative technological products for its customers, particularly here in the UK which has a large Indian diaspora.”
Additionally customers with SBI account in both UK and India can access both accounts through the app. YONO SBI UK would also allow customers to change their address, email and mobile number online. It comes with strong cordon of device binding to protect security of customer funds.
YONO Service in India
SBI launched this app two years back with a motive to replace all its debit cards with digital banking. And since then, it has been striving to ease the lifestyle of its customers.
The bank plans to set up over 10 lakh YONO Cash Points across India in the next 18 months. “We are considering establishing close to 10 lakh YONO Cash Points in 18 months. Nearly 70,000 cash points have already been established, said Kumar back in August at a press conference in Jaipur.
