MakeMyTrip signs MoU with Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board to promote homestays

To promote domestic as well as international travellers in Madhya Pradesh with an objective to develop the quality supply of Homestays in the state, the Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board (MPTB) signed an MoU with India’s leading online travel company – MakeMyTrip Private Limited, on Friday. The partnership is aimed at giving a boost to homestays available for travellers visiting the state.

Under the MoU, MakeMyTrip plans to tap less-explored but high potential destinations in the state, along with native businesses aiming to elevate the local economy through homestays. MakeMyTrip’s is planning to add all such properties under its Alternative Accommodations category list to promote the experience of the rural way of life for travellers. The home-sharing economy has witnessed an increase in its demand as the travellers are exploring new experiences under eco-tourism. This MoU will not only boost the earnings of micro-entrepreneurs but will also help in fostering tourism in the Madhya Pradesh.

Director of the Madhya Pradesh Tourism Development Board, Dr Manoj Kumar Singh, said, “We are delighted to partner with MakeMyTrip that has transformed travel and tourism landscape in India. Under the MoU, MakeMyTrip and Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board co-jointly will conduct training sessions and workshops on ‘hosting standards and best practices’ and other operational aspects for current or potential hosts of homestay facilities and unique properties in Madhya Pradesh.
