Power couple Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra among the latest celebs to donate towards PM-CARES Funds

Being human is given but what purpose do we serve if we ignore the suffering of others? Especially at times like today when the entire world is reeling under the tribulations of Covid-19 with the sick and poor bearing the brunt, it is high time that we step forward to help others in every little way we can.

In light of the ongoing crisis, many celebrities from Bollywood fraternity have been doing their bit to help the ones in need. Joining the bandwagon, actress Shilpa Shetty, along with her husband Raj Kundra, has pledged to donate Rs 21 lakhs towards PM-CARES Fund. An actress, yoga teacher and impeccable cook, Shilpa Shetty has proven that there is nothing more inspiring and appealing than the beauty of a human soul.

She took the announcement to her Instagram handle and wrote, “For humanity, our country and fellow citizens that need us; now is the time, let’s do our bit. @TheRajKundra and I pledge 21 lacs to @narendramodi ji’s PM-CARES Fund. Every drop in the ocean counts, so I urge you all to help fight this situation.” She further mentioned the bank details of the PM-CARES Fund and urged the citizens to do their part too.

While over 1300 people have been affected by the pandemic so far, financially, there are over a million more. This includes casual workers and daily-wage earners who have been sacked due to nationwide lockdown and are walking a tightrope between saving themselves from the pandemic and feeding their family. On that note, celebrities like Akshay Kumar, Varun Dhawan, Guru Randhawa and many more have donated towards PM-CARES Fund to not just help combat COVID-19 but also provide food and relief to the poor. Salman Khan’s Being Human charity organisation has also decided to help around 25,000 wage workers in the film industry by providing them financial support.
