Lost Stars: Mourning the loss of two legends from film fraternity

While the nation was still coming to terms with the death of Irrfan Khan, news about the death of Veteran actor Rishi Kapoor has left everyone in mourning. Irrfan khan, the actor that left his mark in Bollywood with movies like Maqbool, Hindi Medium, Paan Singh Tomar and in Hollywood with Jurassic Park and Life of Pie, passed away at the age of 53.

After being admitted for colon infection after two year long battle with neuroendocrine cancer, on Wednesday followed by the death of Rishi Kapoor, 67. The actor of 102 Not Out! who had been battling cancer for two years, was admitted to the hospital last night and passed away on Thursday morning.

The news of Rishi Kapoor’s death was first confirmed by the tweet of Amitabh Bachchan who expressed his pain on the passing of his dear friend through his words — “I am destroyed”

Social media sites are flooded with tributes to both the actors by their fans, family members, film fraternity and politicians offering their condolences and paying respect for India’s finest artists.

In September last year, Rishi Kapoor was reportedly undergoing treatment for cancer in the US for a year and later in February was hospitalized because of his health issues. He was admitted to a hospital in Delhi for infection and was readmitted shortly after to a hospital in Mumbai for fever, however, he was discharged in a few hours.

Rishi Kapoor and Irrfan Khan’s on-screen moments from the movie D-Day have been shared innumerable times on social media by fans all over the world. In an earlier interview with Filmfare, Irrfan Khan had shared his experience of working with Rishi Kapoor on the film – “One of my cousins is his ultimate fan, though I have watched all of Rishi Kapoor’s movie, I never thought I had it in me to even think about being Rishi Kapoor.”.
