Wistron’s $165 million plan expansion in India

Wistron has been planning to invest Rs 1,300 crore at its up and coming office outside Bengaluru, a senior executive said, as the Taiwanese manufacturer expects more business from its customers, for example, Apple.

As reported recently, the manufacturer of iPhone was analyzing the chance of moving about a fifth of its production limit from China to India and scaling up its nearby assembling income, through its contractors, to around $40 billion throughout the following five years. It is likely to be through contractors Wistron and Foxconn. The Wistron plant in Narasapura, around 65 kilometers from the state capital, acquired Rs 1,600 crore in September, up from an already set amount of Rs 900 crore. The new venture will see that swell to a complete Rs 2,900 crore.

The official said the investment will be strategic, to increase business opportunity from India. “Our clients have shown significant interest in manufacturing in India”, he added. Wistron has gained 43 acres of land in Narasapura, of which just 40% has been used.

Wistron’s sudden increased interest for investment in Karnataka, while not selective to assembling Apple items, also comes when India has provided relaxation in the foreign trade norms and investment in single-brand retail like Apple has been requesting.

Wistron, headquartered in Taiwan, is an information and communication service provider. Wistron has employed more than 80,000 individuals around the world. As an ODM, Wistron designs and manufactures products for different organizations to sell under their own image name. Wistron centers around ICT (data and communication technology), including PCs, work area PCs, servers, stockpiling, LCD TVs, handheld gadgets, and gadgets and gear for clinical applications. Wistron gives various technological services of innovation within the said designs, aftersales, and manufacturing in order to meet different customers’ demands.
