Siemens Healthineers and HERE Technologies Join Hands To Revamp Supply Network Visibility

A partnership between HERE Technologies, a data tech platform that specializes in mapping and location data services, and Siemens Healthineers is in the works which will enhance the logistic network of the Healthineers Customer Services unit.

This collaboration is expected to enthuse the Customer Services division with the ability to streamline their daily operations. Currently the unit is involved in transport and on-site delivery of important parts to hospitals and laboratories across the globe. A delayed delivery process could lead to loss in productivity and additional costs.

In order to tackle such problems and implement preventive measures, Siemens Healthineers has roped in HERE Technologies to devise a solution for tracking and monitoring shipments. This will allow real-time tracking as well as bring an end-to-end visibility into the supply operations.

HERE Technologies will provide smart tracking devices to all Healthineers shipments which will not only monitor the condition and location of each parcel but also record data even when offline. This means that the handlers at Customer Services will be able to keep an eye on parts even after their delivery and installation, allowing them to monitor their functions in real-time.

This plays an important role in servicing worn out parts and replacing them. Real-time monitoring of their conditions will allow Siemens Healthineers to share data with hospitals and update them on the condition of their equipment and recommend servicing as and when required.

Fred Hessabi, Chief Customer Officer, HERE, stressed on the need to provide real-time telemetry to health technicians so that maintenance can be performed regularly on hi-tech equipment in warehouses and hospitals.  “We are delighted to be collaborating with Siemens Healthineers, leveraging our location expertise and technology to support the healthcare sector by reducing costs and boosting productivity levels,” he added.

Commenting on the partnership, Heiko Ansorge, Global Head of Service Supply Chain Solutions, Siemens Healthineers, said, “Through our relationship with HERE, Siemens Healthineers can inform hospitals and technicians ahead of time about any early or delayed shipment arrivals. Our co-created trackers can even inform our technicians if a shipment has been delivered to the right floor and room, without having to install any additional infrastructure or anchor devices.”
