Kapil Sharma to be seen in a Nandita Das film alongside Shahana Goswami

Comedian Kapil Sharma has announced his next film with actor/director Nandita Das. Sharma is considered one of the most popular faces of comedy in the subcontinent and has acted in two films, “Kis Kisko Pyaar Karu” and “Firangi”. “Firangi” was also Kapil’s debut film as a producer.

As a comedian, Sharma is known for pushing his limits, and even though his earlier two films weren’t big box office hits, they left the audience wanting more. In his next film with Nandita Das, he will be seen as a food delivery rider.

The project which is yet to be titled will also feature Shahana Goswami. “I am very happy about this project, not because I am doing a film, but because I am doing a Nandita Das film, whom I have seen as an actor and a director. She has a very distinct and deep way of looking at things and a keen eye for detailing. So my job as an actor is to just do what she tells me. Her work is very different from mine, and I am happy that the audience will get to see a new side of me” said Kapil.

The film will be presented by Applause Entertainment and Nandita Das Initiatives. Das has directed four films so far. The film “Manto”, directed by her, won the “Un Certain Regard Award” at Cannes Film Festival and was nominated for six awards. This film was based on the life of Urdu writer Sadat Hasan Manto, who was known for his controversial short stories based on the struggles of a common man. His work is greatly cherished in India and Pakistan.

Talking about the project, Nandita said, “The cast and crew have serendipitously come together. Kapil popped on my screen! I could see him wholly representing the common man.”

Kapil Sharma, the host of the popular TV show “Comedy Nights with Kapil”, recently appeared in a one-hour Netflix special titled “I’m not done yet” which received mixed reviews from the audience. In the stand-alone episode, the comic who has a passion for music can also be seen performing a song that he wrote himself.
