Visa Free Travel for Indians: Thailand Welcomes Indian Tourists with Open Arms

To attract more tourists, Thailand has taken a significant step by waiving visa requirements for travelers from India and Taiwan. Starting November 10, 2023, Indians can venture to the captivating landscapes of Thailand without a visa and stay for up to 30 days. This visa-free access will be available until May 10, 2024. The Thai government’s decision reflects a strategic move to boost tourism as the season approaches, with expectations of attracting 1.4 million additional tourists and generating an extra 55 billion baht (approximately $1.5 billion) in revenue.

Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin emphasized the significance of this initiative by stating, “We will provide visa-free entry to India and Taiwan because a lot of their people like to travel to Thailand.” Previously, Indian and Taiwanese tourists had to apply for a 15-day visa on arrival at immigration checkpoints, presenting bank statements and proof of accommodation. This move aligns with Thailand’s broader effort to revive its tourism sector, contributing significantly to its GDP.
