Meity Blocked 22 Online Illegal Betting Apps, Mahadev Betting App Topped the List

In a recent crackdown, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) blocked access to 22 allegedly illegal betting apps. This action was initiated at the request of the Enforcement Directorate (ED), signifying a significant move against the proliferation of unlawful gambling platforms in India. Two individuals were apprehended in connection with these illegal betting operations. Bhim Singh Yadav, a constable in the Chhattisgarh Police Force, was among those taken into custody. Additionally, Asim Yadav believed to be a cash courier dispatched from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to facilitate substantial financial transactions for the Congress party’s electioneering expenses, was also apprehended. These individuals face charges under section 19 of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, which pertains to the commission of money laundering offences under section 3 and is punishable under section 4 of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.

Celebrities Summoned by ED

The Enforcement Directorate made headlines by summoning several prominent celebrities in connection with the Mahadev app investigation. Notable figures such as Ranbir Kapoor, Huma Qureshi, Kapil Sharma, and Shraddha Kapoor were those called to assist with the inquiries.
