Smitha V Crishna, a third-generation heir of the Godrej Group has topped the list of India’s richest women, in a wealth report “Kotak Wealth Hurun – Leading wealthy Women 2018′ released by the Kotak Wealth Management, a subsidiary of Kotak Mahindra Bank and Hurun Report India. The list covers the individuals having a net worth of over Rs 8,000 crore. It has been further divided to cover the top 100, having an appropriate net worth of Rs 1,000 crore.
As per the sources, Smitha V Crishna has a net worth of whopping Rs 37,570 crore. She also has one-fifth share in the family assets, along with her brothers. She grabbed a number of headlines on purchasing the bungalow of Dr. Homi J Bhabha, the late atomic physicist for Rs 371 crore few years back.
Roshni Nadar, the Executive Director and the CEO of HCL Enterprise is second in the list, with a net worth of Rs 30,200 crore. With an estimated wealth of Rs 20,120 crore, Kiran Nadar, wife of HCL founder Shiv Nadar has also secured the 5th position in the Kotak Wealth Hurun – Leading Wealthy Women 2018.
Indu Jain, the current chairperson of India’s largest media group, Bennett, Coleman & Co Ltd also ranks at the 3rd position. Her fortune is estimated to around Rs 26,240 crore.
According to Anas Rahman Junaid, the Managing Director and Chief Researcher of Hurun Report India, there has been a 5 per cent increase in the number of women in the Hurun India Rich, from the year 2012 to 2017.
“With India’s thriving consumer spending and a maturing tech ecosystem, we expect more women to lead the entrepreneurship story in India,” he said in a statement.
