Considering the need for quality education, MAMR Muthiah alias Ayyappan established the Chettinad College of Engineering and Technology at Puliyur in Karur District, Tamil Nadu and also an institution for higher learning in medical and paramedical sciences under the name of Chettinad Academy of Research and Education (CARE).

Having turned the Chettinad Group into a Rs.4,000 crore conglomerate, MAMR Muthiah alias Ayyappan is well-known for his massive achievements. He was elected as the President of the Cement Manufacturers’ Association of India in January 2012, and was handed the responsibility of holding the position for a term of 2 years. He is the youngest person to be elected to this position. He was also elected as the President of the Willingdon Charitable Trust and the Indian Cultural Research Trust. M.A.M.R. Muthiah alias Ayyappan was elected by a vote of majority as the Secretary of the Gandhinagar Education Society in a court convened annual general body meeting recently.
