IRB Infrastructure, one of the best highway construction companies in India, has built several world-class roads in the last couple of decades. While adding to its portfolio, the company has ensured a flawless connectivity of remote areas with the major cities across the different states of India.
Adding another project to its massive portfolio, the company started tolling on the Solapur-Yedeshi highway on March 7, 2018 as the highway was thrown open for vehicular movement. IRB Infrastructure has 17 owned projects and seven projects under O&M contracts as the project manager for IRB InvIT.
Talking about the project, Virendra D Mhaiskar, the CMD of IRB Infra said, “We are happy to open the newly widened highway for commuters. We hope it would bring smoother connectivity and enhance the traveling experience, for people commuting between Solapur and Osmanabad.”
Commenting on the capacities of the company, he said, “This is our second project commissioned after Kaithal – Rajasthan Border Project in September 2017, and fifth project to start tolling – in FY 2018; which demonstrates our execution capacities”.
IRB Infra got this project from NHAI (National Highway Authority of India) under DBFOT pattern for converting the existing 2 lanes into 4 lanes at a project cost of Rs 1,492 crore. The total length of the project was 98.72 km on NH 211. Concession period for the project is 29 years, while the COD (commercial operation date) was achieved in line with the provisional certification issued by competent authority.
The 98.72 km stretch connects the prime places in the state, including Tulajapur and Osmanabad. The project has a service road of 33.6 km. It also has 11 pedestrian underpasses, 17 flyovers, 2 major bridges, 25 small bridges and 66 intersections. Apart from this, it also has 134 culverts, 1 railway bridge and 2 toll plazas.
Yedeshi-Solapur highway stretch is yet another world class project of IRB that will offer a wonderful experience to the commuters, saving both time and money. It is yet another example of how the company has connected different regions with the major parts of the country in the last couple of decades.
Even after achieving a unique milestone of completing a total length of 12,800 lane km in the last 20 years, the company is looks forward to increase its portfolio by completing projects on time, and offering the best experience to commuters.
