Nexteer Automotive, a global leader in intuitive motion control is all geared up to expand its presence across different countries. As a part of its expansion plan, the company is introducing two new facilities in southern India — a software center in Bengaluru for catering the increasing demand for software-based functionality in advanced steering applications, and a new production facility in Chennai for manufacturing Nexteer’s safety-critical Electric Power Steering (EPS) systems and driveline products.

In its attempt to address the increasing demand for software in safety and performance, Nexteer recently launched its India Software Center (ISC) in Bengaluru. It focuses on the downstream software production and validation for providing quality compliance with regulations.

For the time being, Nexteer’s Global Technical Center in the US, in tandem with regional Technical Centers in Poland and China, will continue upstream software development and R&D innovation.

In the words of Robin Milavec, Vice President of Global Engineering, Nexteer Automotive, “Software plays an increasingly important role in the safety and performance of Nexteer’s advanced steering systems.”

“We view our software and electronic capabilities as key differentiators – especially as the market demand and steering function complexity grow with driver assist features and varying levels of automated driving. Nexteer is committed to deploying a best-in-class global team that delivers innovative solutions with speed, flexibility and seamless vehicle integration,” he added.

At present, more than 100 software engineers have been employed by Nexteer’s ISC. The company further plans to expand to 200 employees this year. The company’s workforce work upon all the aspects related to software and calibration projects – ranging from architecture development to delivery.

“As part of Nexteer’s global team, the ISC engineers work on the industry’s leading-edge – creating designs for varying levels of automated driving and cybersecurity,” said Usha Holalkere, Engineering and Operations Director, Nexteer India Software Center.
