Oberoi Group, a luxury hotel chain and hospitality major, is all set to shift its focus on the domestic travellers in terms of business and leisure. MD and CEO of Oberoi Group, Vikram Obreoi, also said that majority of Indians who usually travel abroad for holiday or leisure are likely to do the same within the country which will not only help the company earn profits but also bring substantial investment within the industry.
“So far also domestic business and domestic leisure was the single biggest market for us. This trend will now become stronger”, he added, referring to the current restrictions on international travelling due to pandemic. Founded in 1934, the hotel chain is also looking forward to make its debut in Europe by 2022 for serving central London residents.
With hospitality sector and airlines being among the casualties, travel industry has taken a major hit after the Covid-19 pandemic. Hospitality industry is currently standing by for the government’s notice to reopen the sector for business. “We hope the reopening happens next month when lockdown 4.0 ends.”
The group has also rolled out an enhanced health & safety programme at all Trident and Oberoi hotels. Several steps like sanitizing car exteriors before entering the hotel porch, disinfecting restaurant tables & chairs and deep cleaning of the rooms will be taken to ensure the safety of their customers. The protocol has also been uploaded on their website to make the guests feel safe and stay informed about the policies that are being followed by the hotel staff to serve utmost care to them. In addition to this, Vikram Oberoi also stated that they will be adopting new gestures to greet the guests, since the staff’s smile won’t be visible through masks, to make them feel at home when they return to our hotels.
