Chinese smartphone company Vivo recently announced that it would provide three more years of Android support and upgrades for its premium X Series model. The smartphone maker came out with a statement that confirmed major upgrades related to the Android OS software and security for selected models that are launched after July 2021.
This new policy is applicable to the European, Australian and Indian markets where Vivo has a major footprint. The X Series models not covered under the new changes will continue to receive regular Android security upgrades.
Stressing on Vivo’s user-oriented innovation and enhanced customer satisfaction, Yujian Shi, Senior Vice President and CTO of the company, said that the premium X Series were designed for robustness and durability, featuring the best hardware in the industry. Keeping that in mind, Vivo wants to ensure that all its clients receive the best support that matches their expectations, he added.
He concluded by saying, “We always innovate with the user in mind. With this pledge, we are making a promise to our customers that they will be able to enjoy a premium smartphone experience for an extended period and continue to benefit from the latest software features.”
Vivo has always prioritised the customer-first policy and strived to provide the best products, support and experience that satisfies them. This new commitment is a part of the company’s efforts to introduce new products as it continues to expand beyond Europe, with the ultimate aim of having a global presence.
Since its foray in the Indian market, Vivo has been performing exceptionally well. Its introduction of the premium X Series models in July 2020 enabled it to capture a significant percentage of the market and compete with the some of the best in business. The last quarter saw the company increase its share of the Indian smartphone market to 16%.
