Akshaya Patra Foundation receives delivery van from NHPC Ltd

In line with its corporate social responsibility and sustainable development (CSR-SD) initiatives, the Subansiri Lower HE Project of NHPC Ltd (National Hydroelectric Power Corporation) has donated a custom made pickup vehicle to The Akshaya Patra Foundation (APF), Guwahati.

Pradan Baruah, Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha) from Lakhimpur flagged off the delivery vehicle at event organized in the premises of Akshaya Patra at Amingaon.

Key dignitaries like Ronel Kumar, executive director, NHPC, Jai Chaitanya Dasa and Janardhana Dasa, president of Akshaya Patra Foundation, Guwahati also marked their glorious presence on the occasion.

The vehicle given away as Akshaya Patra Donation will be used for delivering hot nourishing mid-day meals to the deprived children studying in government schools in and around Guwahati.

At present, The Akshaya Patra Foundation, Guwahati is serving mid-day meals to more than 47,000 students in over 607 government schools in Kamrup district of Assam. One the whole, APF is the world’s largest NGO-run mid-day meal programme that serves nutritious school lunch to over 1.6 million children in 13,577 schools across 11 states in India.

Speaking on the occasion, MP Baruah said, “Healthy and wholesome food are of utmost significance for children and we express our gratitude to NHPC for donating a custom-made vehicle to Akshaya Patra, Guwahati in carrying forward their mission.

Ronel Kumar addressed the social commitments of NHPC towards the citizens living in the project vicinity. He hoped that this hi-tech vehicle would assist the Akshaya Patra Foundation in reaching out to more and more school children and hence shall be a benefit for the entire province.

In past, The Akshaya Patra Foundation has received major support from a lot of organisations, in order to build a culture that unites the major aspects of social development. Akshaya Patra Kitchens have received several high-tech meal delivery vehicles from the different donors, including Shriram Properties, DHL Express, a logistics company etc. as part of their Corporate Social Responsibilities (CSR).
