India’s COVID-19 concert

International and Indian celebrities have announced to take part from home in “iFor India” fundraising event for the COVID-19 pandemic.

Along with Mick Jagger and Will Smith, several renowned international and Indian celebrities would be performing from their homes in a four-hour concert for raising funds in the battle against COVID-19 in India.

Captain of Indian cricket team Virat Kohli, Bollywood superstars like Priyanka Chopra and Shah Rukh Khan are among the top domestic names aligned to perform or read messages for the event. Other participants at the concert, include celebrities like Joe Jonas and wife Sophie Turner, A.R. Rahman, Jay Sean and Mindy Kaling who would make appearances for raising funds.

All the performances would be live-streamed by Facebook and would also acknowledge the efforts of frontline workers battling against coronavirus.

It is organized by the top most Bollywood directors and star makers like Karan Johar and Zoya Akhtar. The event is expected to acquire huge amount for over 100 groups offering food and similar essential items or services during the health crisis.

The money is being raised for the section of society which is severely hit due to lockdown and don’t have any work, home and meals.

India is under a complete lockdown from 25th March onwards. Recently, some restrictions are eased based upon the area and the number of COVID-19 cases. Millions of migrant workers are stuck with a little food and money in different parts of the Nation with no means left to return home. Recently, special trains were organized by the government to help workers to return home.

Till now, over 42,500 coronavirus cases and 1,370 deaths are reported across India. The government has also arranged a series of special activities to showcase support for frontline workers. The military helicopters recently showered flowers petals on the hospitals serving COVID-19 patients.
